Pro-Change Lifestyle Management Suite –

Health Risk Intervention (HRI):

The entry point into the LifeStyle Management Suite is the customizable Health Risk Intervention (HRI), which assesses risk and readiness to change key health behaviors. Our HRI goes beyond a traditional Health Risk Assessment (HRA) in that stage tailored feedback is provided to the participant. Additional assessment items can be added or deleted as needed.

After participants respond to the assessment, immediate on-screen feedback on stage of change and the single most important change process (as determined by statistical analyses) is provided to initiate the behavior change process. For example, a person in Precontemplation for effective Stress Management would be given feedback designed to help him or her increase the Pros of doing so. Once the HRI is completed, the user’s homepage is dynamically updated with the LifeStyle Management Program module options that are relevant based on Stage of Change and any eligibility criteria specified.

Healthy Pregnancy: Step-by-Step

December 2011, Pro-Change launched a randomized clinical trial of Healthy Pregnancy: Step by Step at six federally qualified health center sites offering prenatal care to underserved women in Rhode Island, New York, and Connecticut.

With funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Pro-Change developed a multiple behavior computer tailored intervention (CTI) offering individualized guidance based on stage of readiness for smoking cessation and maintenance, stress management, and healthy eating.

A color-printed feedback report and a multiple behavior change manual serve as adjuncts to the CTI. A total of 373 women participated in the study, and all components of the intervention were offered in English and Spanish. With this project Pro-Change has expanded its core web application capabilities by including extensive interactivity within the tailored feedback screens of the CTI, adding multiple languages, and optimizing of the entire intervention for iPad delivery.

A demonstration of the program can be viewed at www.prochange.com/pregnancydemo. For information on licensing the CTI or purchasing the printed behavior change manual, please contact info@prochange.com.

Journey to Change: A Program for Perpetrators of Domestic Violence –

Computerized Tailored Intervention:

Most interventions for men who batter are standardized and “one-size-fits-all,” neglecting individual differences in readiness to change. A multimedia computerized tailored intervention (CTI) based on the Transtheoretical Model was developed as an adjunct to traditional court-mandated programs. The CTI assesses stage of change, decisional balance, self-efficacy, and processes of change and provides immediate individualized feedback designed to increase readiness to end the violence.

Client Guide:

Journey to Change: A Guide for Improving Your Relationship and Staying Violence-Free
This print manual uses a stage-based approach to help domestic violence offenders get started on the road to change, so they can benefit from traditional group programs. The manual teaches users about the general principles of behavior change, their current stage of change, and stage-matched processes and strategies they can use to progress to the next stage. This guide can be used alone or in conjunction with the Journey to Change computerized tailored intervention. The program and guide are available in Spanish and English.
