Dr. Mauriello leads research and program development in the areas of youth obesity prevention, stress management, and addictive behaviors with grant funding from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. She has served as Principal Investigator on a program of research to develop a computer tailored multiple behavior change intervention targeting adolescent obesity prevention. Having completed a successful Phase I grant, she is awaiting funding to complete the development and test an Internet-based intervention for responsible drinking among adults. Currently, Dr. Mauriello is Principal Investigator on a Phase II grant to test a multiple health behavior change intervention for underserved pregnant women in a clinical trial. This clinical trial is being conducted in six health centers across three states.
Dr. Mauriello received her Master’s and Ph.D. in Health Psychology from the University of Rhode Island. She was recognized with the Sigma Xi Masters Thesis Award in 2002 from URI and with Young Investigator awards from the Cooper Institute in 2004 and 2005. Dr. Mauriello serves as the Co-Chair of the Women’s Health Special Interest Group for the Society of Behavioral Medicine. As Adjunct faculty she has taught undergraduate and graduate classes at New England colleges and universities, most recently at Connecticut College.
