Dr. Evers leads the development and dissemination of interactive, multimedia computerized tailored interventions using expert system technology for a variety of behaviors including stress management, bullying prevention, substance abuse avoidance, and unwanted pregnancy prevention.
She has directed Pro-Change’s work with major corporate accounts including Public Management Associates of the United Kingdom for adolescent and adult behavior change programs, with the Channing Bete Company for school-based programs, and with Healthways, Inc. for adult behavior change programs. She has published in the areas of stress management, substance use prevention, bullying prevention, sexual behavior and risk reduction, and the use of the Internet for health behavior change. In addition, she led a study of health behavior change on the Internet for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Dr. Evers, who holds a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from the University of Rhode Island, is adjunct faculty at URI, an Associate Editor for the American Journal of Health Promotion, and is actively involved in the Society of Behavioral Medicine and the International Society of Behavioral Medicine.
In 2008, Dr. Evers was selected by the U.S. Office of the Secretary of Defense as one of 50 leaders from across the country to participate in the 76th Joint Civilian Orientation Conference (JCOC). In 2009 she received an invitation from the Secretary of the Air Force to attend the 56th Annual National Security Forum (NSF) at the Air War College.
